Missionary Work!
On Saturday March 25th a large party of Brethren from West Lancashire made an early start to venture into Yorkshire.
Arriving at Castle Grove Masonic Hall (Leeds) in good numbers, they were welcomed by Brian Butterfield the District Grand Prefect, following the welcome, they were able to meet friends and share a cup of Yorkshire tea.
Castle Grove Masonic Hall
For those who haven’t visited this venue, Castle Grove is a striking; Grade II listed 19th Century Manor House hidden away in Headingly, just a few miles north of Leeds city centre.
The Ornate Domed Ceiling
Build as a private residence in 1834 for the linen merchant Samuel Holmes, Castle Grove retains an array of original architectural pieces, including a sweeping staircase, intricate oak panelling, ornate fireplaces and stained glass, and a magnificent domed ceiling.

Soon after their arrival all the Guests and members of the District of Yorkshire assembled in an ornate Lodge Room.
Members gathering before the meeting
During his address Brian Butterfield the District Grand Prefect for Yorkshire, as well as thanking all the guests for their support, thanked the members from West Lancashire for their valued and regular support.

Following the meeting the party were able to enjoy liquid refreshment in the company of friends from both the District of Yorkshire and other Districts visiting the meeting.
Enjoying Lunch
After leaving the Hall, it soon became apparent that the journey back to the M62 would take longer than anticipated, not only was there a Rugby match at Headingly Stadium, but the students of Leeds University were taking part in “Rag Week Celebrations”.

Undaunted we eventually crossed the border back into the Red Rose County, satisfied in having enjoyed a great day out with our friends across the Pennines.
